HOOD RIVER, OR

To highlight their community-wide vision to live Above the Influence, over 300 students and volunteers in Hood River, Oregon, directed by artist in residence Allison Bell Fox, contributed over 31,000 man-hours to creating their own one of a kind mural.

Hood River county boasts three H.E.A.L.T.H. (Helping Educate Advocate and Lead Towards Health) Media clubs that are run as after-school programs at the middle and high schools. These clubs, along with the Hood River County summer school program, St. Francis House, Jesuit Volunteers, community volunteers, the Hood River County Prevention Department and Community Justice were able to complete the massive project as a joint undertaking. The mural, located on the exterior of the high school stadium, garners high visibility, as the stadium is utilized by not only the school, but community athletic leagues, the local county fair, and other community events throughout the year.
